Mariah Carey is the only person I can stand to listen to talk about Jesus. Why is that?
Not even my BFF (who's fixing to be a minister!) talks about Jebus around me. She talks about being good and nice and stuff (which is ok with me generally). But not Jesus! So lonely! Meek and mild! New light! New hope! New joy he brings! Won't you listen to the Angels sing! Glory glory glorrry to the New. Born. King.
Oh Jesus! Oh Jesus!
Mary's baby!
Oh Jesus! Oh Jesus!
I love him!
Those lyrics. I swear. Like Shakespeare. Except A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER.
Done with finals! Emailed my last paper (Periodization Pitfalls; Simplification and Marginalization, or some such) at 5, had dinner at Bistro Europa. Delicious latkes, but the server gave me Brut instead of Prosecco. Which, first of all I don't like Brut. Second of all the Prosecco was $1 less than the Brut but over twice the volume! So he didn't charge me for the 17$ glass of sparkly wine, which was nice (I also did leave him a 50% tip even though he messed up). But, I really prefer prosecco.
Have since had two glasses of it-gets-better-with-each-glass Organic Zinfandel (not White Zinfandel, which, ugh). Am 3/4 of the way through Winter of Fire, AKA the book that taught me how to have a good relationship (be ridiculously in love and also don't ever demand anything from each other! also both be a little bit magical!).
Am now going to have more wine and begin decorating house whilst listening to christmas music (Nutcracker or Mariah Carey? What a choice!!!). Christmas lights for the win!
There are few things I enjoy more than celebrating holidays in a cozy blur of domesticity and nesting. I like decorating for individual holidays, I like cooking up complicated feasts, I like inviting people over to share my holiday-specific joy, I like playing holiday music, I like doing holiday crafts. And since I particularly love all the hoopla that surrounds Christmas, I also particularly take joy in being domestically Christmassy.
Katherine and I indulged this tendency with our Christmas tree this year. It is dinosaur and robot-themed!

Oh! Also! I would like to share with you all possibly the most awesome thing I have ever made - a Cylon-centurion tea cozy:
Phew. I got an A in my history class.
Also: Organic Wine and Tamora Peirce and Garlic & Goat Cheese & French Bread for dinner and cute cats and a cute dog and hot fudge sundaes for dessert make for a fine vacation.
